So I have done a lot of pretty amazing things for being so young, and this post will be about where I think I'm going to be in the near future. Since I am 16 and in my 2nd semester of college, I want to have my associates degrees at 18. I will most likely transfer after than to a university. I haven't decided which university I want to transfer to yet. Once I transfer, I will major in 3 dimensional animation and architecture. I will also work in computer science as much as possible. Once I graduate I want either to go into the video game or film industry. I want to make 3D special effects and objects for movies or preferably games. I have already sent out several letters across the country to companies that offer internships. Several have responded with positive answers. Career wise, I haven't decided to much farther than that. But on college, a lot of people change their majors so, who knows what's in store\!

Getting To Know Me
So I think this post will be more about my personal life and interest rather than the last post that was more like a resume.
- My name is Caden Ratcliff
- I was born in Dallas but raised here in Houston
- I am 16 years of age
- I am an only child
- My favorite color.... Sea Foam
- Favorite food is by far sushi
- I hate the taste of ice cream
- I love to watch anime when I have some free time
- I love video games which is what inspired my pursuit of my career which you saw if you read the last post
- I am attending Lonestar Cy-Fair College
- I love math and science but I also have love for art which is why I chose my career path to be 3D Digital Design
- I have interviewed several prominent figures in the scientific community across the country like Laurence Krauss and Richard Dawkins
- I have gone to the state capital, twice, to testify at the state board of education at ages 15 and 16 to the State Board of Education about the changing of Texas school textbooks to be more geared towards Creationism rather than science, to which I was opposed. We won both instances.
- I am an Atheist
- I enjoy intellectual debate between my peers who are often older than me.
- Favorite game... Dark Souls.
- Favorite book is The Lord of The Rings Trilogy (including The Hobbit)
- I am a huge nerd (no surprise there)
- Favorite film... The Lord of The Rings trilogy
- I am pretty much the biggest nerd for anything J.R.R Tolkien related.
- I attend the Renaissance Fair every year
- I have been around live theatre all my life and as a result, have been in several plays and run tech for professional live stage shows.
- I also build sets for live stage plays. My mom is a high school theater arts teacher so I actually work for her with my father, and the school pays us for the set. And when we build a set, WE BUILD A SET. For the show, Annie, we basically built a two story mansion on the stage that doubled as an orphanage.
- I like to go running
- I have traveled to almost every state but never out of the country
- I skipped all of high school
- I know several programming languages and know how to use Photoshop and Autodesk

Intro to Caden
Okay so I am not to good at these kinds of social things but ill do my best so bear with me. Hi. I'm Caden. I think I'm going to make this blog be about what I do to keep busy when I am not at school. I'm was born in Dallas but raised her pretty much all my life. So lets get started.
I am quite young to be here. 16. Its quite intimidating with all these older people here. I have not had a proper public school experience since elementary and I am an only child (which is a rarity it seems these days). I skipped all of high school and got my high school diploma when I was 15. Then I took the placement test at Lonestar when turned 16, and placed advanced rather than having to take remedial. I have grown up with a lot of variety in my life. My father is an IT and also a set designer for live stage productions. My mother is a theatre arts teacher. I have been in many live stage productions but and I always loved both tech and art but I couldn't really have one without the other. It took a while to find something that I really loved doing that was also productive. I have taught myself several programming languages including HTML, Visual Basic, C#, C++, Java and CSS. I developed the website for my first job which was at a restaurant down town when I was 15 and launched it. I liked coding, I still do but it still misses that art component that I really want. Then I started working with Autodesk, 3DS Max when I was 13.
I could create anything I wanted on a 3 dimensional scale. I could work on the computer with mathematics and geometry while having the artistic part of it I was looking for. That's when I really started getting interested in what I wanted to have for a career. I want to do special effects for films and even more so for games. Like most 16 year olds, I like video games but I think I had more respect for the developers than just the games themselves. I wanted to build digital architecture, animate, design and program. And that's what I have been doing. I am terrible at drawing and sketching but with these programs that I have taught myself how to use, I can create with mathematics and my imagination and whatever scale I want.
Sorry if this post is a bit long. I think my next post will be more about me rather than my work. Thanks for taking the time to read!
